OUR COMMUNITIES

Communities Designed Around People

Sophia's Place is working to develop residential communities that rethink what supportive housing can look and feel like.

Rather than creating an institutional environment, our vision centers on welcoming neighborhoods where residents have their own homes while remaining connected to community spaces, activities and supportive resources.

SHARED COMMUNITY SPACES

A neighborhood becomes a community when people have opportunities to connect.

Sophia's Place communities are envisioned to include shared spaces where residents can gather for meals, activities, celebrations, education and everyday conversation.

WELLNESS

Sophia's Place intends to work with qualified providers and community partners to help connect residents with appropriate health, wellness, therapy and supportive resources.

Services available at each community will depend on the specific project, partnerships and resident needs.

ACCESSIBLE HOMES

Homes are envisioned with accessibility, safety, comfort and independence at the forefront.

Community designs may incorporate features such as:

  • Accessible entrances and pathways
  • Accessible bathrooms
  • Adaptable living spaces
  • Safety-focused design
  • Energy-efficient construction
  • Comfortable residential interiors
  • Outdoor living areas
  • Connections to shared community spaces

Specific accessibility features will be determined according to project design and resident needs.

EDUCATION & VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Residents should have opportunities to continue learning, develop skills and pursue meaningful work where appropriate.

Planned programs may include:

  • Life-skills development
  • Computer and technology education
  • Vocational training
  • Employment preparation
  • Resume and interview assistance
  • Financial literacy
  • Creative programs
  • Community volunteer opportunities
  • Partnerships with local employers and educational organizations
