Sophia's Place: A Sanctuary for Disabled Adults and Military Veterans Inc. Sophia’s Place was founded with a deeply personal mission—to honor the founder’s beloved daughter, Sophia, whose resilience and spirit inspired a vision of hope for others. Sophia's Place was created with a singular and deeply personal mission: to provide safe, dignified, and supportive housing for disabled adults and military veterans who too often face an uncertain future. We believe that a home is more than shelter—it is stability, independence, community, and peace of mind.
Across the United States, countless disabled adults risk displacement, neglect, or institutionalization once parents or caregivers are no longer able to support them. Similarly, many veterans return home carrying physical or invisible wounds, only to encounter housing insecurity and limited access to long-term supportive environments.
Our organization is dedicated to developing thoughtfully designed, accessible communities where residents can live with dignity while receiving the care, structure, and support they need to prosper. These communities are built around inclusion, wellness, and independence—offering ADA-compliant housing, on-site medical and wellness resources, and opportunities for personal growth, social connection, and vocational engagement. Opening a community for disabled adults and veterans will provide immense benefits, fostering mental health through peer support, reducing isolation, and offering tailored care for PTSD/TBI, alongside improving physical well-being with on-site medical access and promoting social engagement with shared activities, while also boosting economic stability via shared resources, job help, and vocational training, creating a holistic environment for healing, purpose, and independent living.
Sophia’s Place is not simply about housing—it is about creating lasting stability for disabled adults and military veterans. We focus on long-term solutions that ensure residents is never left without care, guidance, or a place to belong. Our model emphasizes safety, continuity, and respect, empowering individuals to live meaningful lives within a supportive community framework.
Through compassion, intentional design, and a commitment to service, Sophia’s Place is building more than homes—we are building futures. Futures where disabled adults are protected, veterans are honored, and no one is left behind.

This groundbreaking community will feature:
With every home we build, we fuel this mission—ensuring that no one is left behind, and that every individual has access to the safety, support, and respect they deserve.

Sophia's Place is our answer to a broken system, offering an alternative that ensures adults with disabilities and military veterans receive the care, respect, and independence they deserve.
This initiative is not just about housing—it’s about changing lives, restoring dignity, and reshaping the future of care for those who have been overlooked and underserved for too long.
With every home we build, we fund this mission—ensuring that no individual is left without the security and respect they deserve. At Sophia's Place, we’re not just building a community; we’re creating hope, safety, and a brighter future for those who need it most.

The abuse and neglect of adults with disabilities in institutional care settings are not just isolated incidents—they are widespread, systemic failures that have devastating consequences for some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
Studies reveal that individuals with disabilities are four to ten times more likely to experience abuse than those without disabilities. Even more alarming, within nursing homes and long-term care facilities, 64.2% of staff members admitted to committing some form of abuse in the past year. This mistreatment—whether physical, emotional, or financial—often goes unreported due to victims' fear, communication barriers, or lack of resources to seek help.
Throughout history, we have seen devastating examples of neglect and mistreatment in institutional settings:
These are just two of many cases that illustrate the urgent need for alternative housing solutions—places that truly prioritize safety, dignity, and quality of life.

We refuse to accept a system that fails adults with disabilities and military veterans. Sophia’s Place exists to change that reality.
Sophia’s Place is a compassionate, forward-thinking solution to a broken model of care—one that restores dignity, independence, and quality of life to those who have too often been overlooked. Our mission is to create safe, supportive, and empowering communities where residents can truly thrive.
By fostering a secure, community-driven environment, Sophia’s Place provides:
